ANN ARBOR, MI – One local college student and Dexter native is fixing to make history ― one complex welding fabrication at a time.
Mikala Sposito, a 21-year-old attending Washtenaw Community College, will be the first woman to represent the U.S. as a welding competitor at the 48th WorldSkills Competition this September in Shanghai, China.
According to the American Welding Society and SkillsUSA, Sposito earned her spot after winning first at the USA Weld Trials in Huntsville, Alabama, earlier this year.
